If I had to guess I would say 99% of you are asking “what are some easy and healthier snack options”. Especially with the summer right around the corner, which means busy times with travel plans, get togethers, and possibly kids home from school.

Cheez-It baked snack crackers have been a hit for over a century. They say they're "made with real cheese," ingredients like food preservative TBHQ, high levels of sodium, and enriched flour make them fairly unhealthy. A 2021 study found that TBHQ can harm the immune system, specifically immune cell proteins. This synthetic preservative is a form of butane (a very toxic gas) and has been linked to vision disturbances, liver enlargement, childhood behavioral problems, and stomach cancer in animal studies. 👎Autolyzed Yeast Extract is used to increase food cravings so you eat more than you should

👎Enriched Wheat Flour:  the refining process removes most of the fiber, vitamin E, Phosphorus, iron, magnesium and B vitamins (all the healthy parts of wheat)

👎Wheat is also sprayed with glyphosate (roundup weedkiller) as a drying agent for harvest, which ends up in your food. This is a cancer causing chemical.  Therefore, all wheat should be organic, Non- GMO in products.

👎Cheese is not organic, dairy should always be organic, non-gmo.  Cheese or dairy that comes from factory farmed cows that were raised on unhealthy diet of food was not organic and probably sprayed with pesticides.

Artificial Sugars or "Sugar Free" Substitutes.

Artificial sugars and sugar free substitutes can reap havoc on your gut microbiome.

In addition this changes your taste buds and increases the sweet taste threshold, causing natural foods to be less satisfying and less desirable.

"Healthy" Products With Added Sugars

Beware of products that claim to be healthy on the label. If the product is truly healthy, it doesn't need to be labeled that way. Look for added sugars. Common foods with added sugars are yogurt, granola bars, cereal, fruit pouches, peanut butter, and jam.

Refined Sugars

Candy and baked goods are the obvious example, however these sugars are found in items such as granola bars, bread, pasta, sauces, flavored milk, juice, etc. These sugars can add up as the day goes on.
